What is Systemic Therapy?

In my work, I take many different ideas, approaches and theories into account. In doing so, I take the method of the Systemic Family and Couple Therapy as my foundation. From the systemic perspective, I not only focus on the one person who seems to be experiencing a problem, but I also take into consideration all those that are involved. This "system" is mainly the family, but school, professional environment etc. can also play an important role.

All kinds of behaviours follow a purpose. They always pursue - consciously or subconsciously - a certain intention. Before I look at how to change any behavioural pattern, I first try to find out, what purpose it is possibly serving. Only when this need can be fulfilled in a different way, is there the chance to change a behaviour that others might perceive as inappropriate.

In order to achieve this, I take a closer look at the patterns of communication and interaction of all those involved. Hence, I often - for a certain time - have to take the role of an interpreter - until the participants are able to create their own form of communication in such a way that there is an understanding and which makes a satisfying togetherness possible.

I can support you to look deeper and to search for the original purpose of a behavioural pattern. This original purpose might not exist anymore and, therefore, the inappropriate behaviour is no more necessary.

As I take a very close look at the social surroundings, Systemic Therapy is a good tool for individuals, too. This is because we all find ourselves permanently in various interactions and are so members of "systems".

Therefore, Systemic Therapy is suitable for couples and families as well as for those individuals who would like to look for help and support on their own.

Terms and Conditions of a Systemic Couple, Family or Individual Therapy

In spite of the scientific acknowledgement through the "Wissenschaftlicher Ausschuss im Bundesgesundheitsministerium" in 2008, clients of a Systemic Therapy still have to pay for the costs themselves.

In order to enable clients with a lower income to make use of the services of a Systemic Family Therapist, I work with a flexible fee. This means, that at the beginning of our cooperation you can decide, within a given framework, how much you can pay per session.
